What is miscarriage?
Miscarriage is loss of embrio or fetus earlier than 20th week of pregnancy. If labor results in live birth before the 37th week of pregnancy than it is called “premature birth”. Most miscarriages occur in the first trimester of pregnancy (50%) The rate may be even higher because some women are not aware of their miscarriages at very early stages of their pregnancies, so these cases are not included into the statistics. 20% of miscarriages take place in the 2nd trimester and 30% in the third one.
